Lefkada belongs to the Ionian Island group, Eptanisa, located on the west of the Greek mainland. Lefkada is a small mountainous island, which stands out from the rest with a floating bridge that connects it to the west coast mainland of Greece.
Beaches, like Porto Katsiki, Kathisma and Egremni, are among the most photographed places in Greece. It is called by many, the Caribbean of Greece as the west coast is a stunning scenery of lush green mountains dropping down to join the crystal blue waters of the Ionian Archipelagos.
This island will cover all tastes; it is the perfect place for families, couples but also large groups of friends who want to relax and enjoy themselves.
A day on the island of Lefkada gives everyone of all ages a wide range of things to do and see. Sea lovers can enjoy the most amazing experience with a private boat exploring the surrounding islands and isolated beaches of Meganisi, Scorpios, Kalamos to name a few. Beach enthusiasts will soon realize they have found the best beaches in Greece with two of them being Porto Katsiki and Egremni, located on the south-west coastline of the island.
Lefkada has lovely coastal villages, like Sivota, Agios Nikitas and Vasiliki that are worth exploring. In particular, the eastern side has seaside villages more suited to families, while the western side is more buzz attracting younger crowds. Due to the strong winds during summer, Lefkada is a great island for windsurfing and kite surfing. The best windsurfing beach in Lefkada is in Vassiliki, named Ponti Beach. Agios Ioannis north of the island and neigbouring Lefkada Town is the hot spot for kitesurfing.
